What is Cialis?
Cialis, the brand name for Tadalafil, is in a group of medications known as phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors. Similarly to Viagra ,Cialis is prescribed in treatment of erectile dysfunction.
How does it work?
Cialis works by helping the patient to achieve and maintain an erection after sexual stimulation. This occurs by increasing the amount of blood that is allowed to flow into the penis during sexual arousal. It does not increase sexual desire.
Dosing information
The usual dosage for Cialis is one, 20-mg tablet taken as required, but at least 30 minutes before sexual relations. This medication’s efficacy begins after 30 minutes and has been shown to last for up to 36 hours, although this will vary from patient to patient. It is recommended that patients take no more than Cialis tablet per day.
Take Cialis with or without food, and do not increase your dose without speaking to your doctor. If you find that the medication fails or ceases to work, speak to your doctor.
Cialis is available in either 10 mg or 20 mg strengths.
Warnings:
Do not take Cialis if you:
* Are taking any form of a nitrate medication, including nitro-glycerine. Combining these medications with Cialis can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure that could have serious side effects.
* Have been advised not to engage in sexual activity
* Are allergic to any of the ingredients contained in Cialis.
Side effects:
* Headache
* Back pain
* Dizziness
* Indigestion following a meal
* Muscle aches
* Swollen eyelids
* Nasal congestion
* Flushing of the face
Sever side effects
Seek emergency medical help if you experience any of the following:
* Chest pain, irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath at the onset of sexual activity, if you have a pre-existing heart condition
* Pain in the eyes or changes in vision
* Painful or inappropriate erection that lasts for longer than four hours
* Sudden faint feeling or dizziness
Tell your doctor if:
* You drink large amounts of alcohol. Combining alcohol and Cialis may cause dizziness and fainting
* You have high blood pressure, especially if you are taking medication to control it. This combination may exacerbate the blood-pressure-lowering quality of Cialis
* You have a heart condition or have had a heart attack or stroke. If you experience chest pain, dizziness or nausea during sexual activity, cease the activity and contact your doctor.
* You have kidney or liver problems
* You take medications containing nitrates
* You have penile deformation, such as angulation, cavernosal fibrosis, or Peyronie’s disease
* Vision problems
* Prostate problems
Do not drink grapefruit juice if you take Cialis. It can increase the amount of Cialis in your blood and thus increase the effects of the drug.
